The article covers everything you wish to know about the SNAP December 2025 payout.

Before the federal shutdown ended, the federal court had directed the government to provide full funds for the SNAP benefit, but later, the Supreme Court extended the administrative stay, giving the government time to resume the benefit.

When can you expect the December 2025 SNAP benefit?

As the federal government reopens, many states have said they are moving to provide 100% of  SNAP benefits for November 2025, which is great because, due to the shutdown, some USDA officials warned about the reduction or no payment at all.

Now, funding for the SNAP benefit is finalized after the uncertainty that followed due to the federal shutdown. The certainty of the November 2025 payments has provided relief to the beneficiaries about the December 2025 payments, too.

The payment date for the SNAP benefit depends on the state, as it varies from one state to another. The state or local territories administer the SNAP funds, and they process the payment as per their payment schedule. Most states schedule the SNAP payment based on the recipient’s last digit of the application.

Who will receive the SNAP benefits in December 2025?

The states set the rules for the SNAP benefit eligibility, but there are standards set by the federal authority as well that states can follow. So, if you wish to check if you are eligible for the SNAP benefit or not, you can check your state’s official website for the SNAP benefit.

However, based on the federal rules, you can check the SNAP benefit eligibility below:

  • Your gross household income should be lower than 130% of the poverty line, such as for a family of three, the poverty line in FY 2026 is $2221 a month.
  • You must meet the asset threshold, such as if your family has an elderly member or disabled person, your asset value should be $3000 or less, whereas if you do not have any such members, the asset value must be $4500 or less.
  • If your age is between 18 and 64 and you do not have children or disabilities, you will receive the SNAP benefit for three months only every three years if you are not working or enrolled in the training program.

Exclusion:

  • If you are involved in a strike or you are a student who has attended college for more than half-time.
  • You do not have documents establishing your immigration status, which disqualifies you from the benefit.
  • If you have been convicted of a drug-related crime, you may lose your SNAP benefit.

How much SNAP benefit can you expect?

The SNAP benefit payout depends on your situation and the state you are living in, as it varies state by state because states decide the SNAP payout based on their demographic. The SNAP benefits offer 30% of their net income to spend on food. According to the federal standards, the SNAP benefit payout based on the household size for FY 2026 will be:

Household SizeSNAP Maximum Monthly Benefit Average payment
01$298$204
02$546$370
03$785$588
04$994$715
05$1183$839
06$1421$954
07$1571$966
08$1789$1246
For each additional person $218+–

What if you do not receive your SNAP payout for December 2025?

If you do not receive your SNAP benefit as per the scheduled date in your state, you should reach out to the respective state authority. You should first check your EBT Card for the food stamps and see if you receive the payout or not.

You can also use the Propel App to see your SNAP benefit and EBT balance, as the app is available for all US states. Remember, the app is not a government app, but it partners with the state agencies and provides important information to the recipients to manage their payments.

The SNAP benefit for December 2025 will surely be processed as the federal shutdown has ended. Now, the beneficiaries can expect their November 2025 payment and will be updated on the next month’s payment shortly.
