The Blue Cross Blue Shield subscriber settlement appeals were resolved, and now the claimants are waiting for the payout from the $2.67 billion settlement fund. If you are one of the claimants, you can find the full details about the payout date and other information here.
The antitrust lawsuit was filed against Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, alleging that the defendants had agreed not to compete with each other in selling healthcare insurance and other services related to health insurance. These practices created problems for consumers and violated the antitrust laws.
The plaintiffs and BCBSA agreed to settle the lawsuit, and the class members were asked to file the claim by 05 November 2021. But appeals were filed against the court’s decision on approval of the settlement, which delayed the payout up to $333.
When can you expect the Blue Cross Blue Shield Subscribers Settlement Payment?
With the BCBS subscriber settlement appeals resolved, the settlement administrator has begun reviewing the claims and has started sending the claim determination notice via email or postcard to the approved claimants.
The administration has not determined the payment sending date, as they are reviewing the claim, and it will not be distributed until all the claims are verified and reviewed. The process can take time; however, the settlement administrator will update the payment date of distribution on the official website.
The claim determination notice will be sent to you, so all the claimants who have filed a valid claim should wait for the notice and check their email or mail frequently.
How much will you receive under the BCBS subscriber settlement?
Based on the BCBS settlement agreement, the cash payment to the claimants with approved claims will be sent from the $1.9 billion net settlement fund, which is determined when the administrator processes the administrative expenses, service awards, and attorney fees and costs from the $2.67 billion fund.
The payment amount is not determined yet as it will depend on various factors, number of claims filed, premiums or administrative fees you paid, and others. However, based on the report and estimation, the claimants can receive around $333 from the settlement.
The valid claimant can know about the payment through the claim determination notice, as it will have the link, where you can check your total administrative fees paid and premiums paid. So, you can estimate your payment from the notice as well, but if your payout is less than or equal to $5, there will be no payment for you.
